There are gestures, smells and shapes that in a few seconds have the ability to take us to a memory of another, distant life. Black Swan is a tallboy that reminds us of when we were children and we looked for dreams in drawers, not things.

Black swan is a tallboy made of solid elm wood, worked strictly by hand enhancing the wood’s natural veining.
As other Poems in Wood, it borrows its name from a famous ballet “The Swan Lake”, and the symbol of the black swan becomes a source of inspiration to describe “a one-time event, that doesn’t fall into the frame of regular expectations”, as Nassim Nicholas Taleb writes in his namesake essay.

So a bedroom tallboy, thanks to a particular feature of design, leads us to a gesture that is capable of unlocking a memory.
To understand which one, all we have to do is look into its drawers…

The rarest, unpredictable and unexpected event is thinking of becoming children again.

BEDESIGN WEEK 22 – GENOVA

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I am announcing my participation in the BeDesign Week 2022 that will take place from 18th to 22nd May in Genoa.
In the showroom of San Bernardo’s Church I will be displaying two of my most recent “Poems in Wood” , one of which for the very first time.

This year the BeDesign Week 22 exhibition’s theme is “time”, hence I immediately agreed to participating and proposed two pieces of furniture that in their concept talk about the importance of owning your time as a conquest of self, as a rebellious act and, on the other hand, about time as memory.

Indeed, Saturday 21st May at 5.30 pm, right there in Genoa, I will officially present Black Swan, a work that is part of a trilogy of pieces together with Cala Martina.
Following, we will have the honour to host a tasting of two wines from Terenzi Winery, winemakers from Scansano, and so have the pleasure of meeting in person in a convivial moment.

But I don’t want to spoil more so I’ll wait for you in Genoa!

AbNormal is liberation.

Has it ever happened to you to do an ordinary action, an ordinary, usual gesture, but in a completely unusual way?

AbNormal was born by chance. I had two wheel rims of a cart and just for play I started wedging them together, trying to understand what I could turn them into.
This until I was captured by a movement, so soft yet perturbing…
The perfect way to unleash my will to break the mould.

And so this sculpture-chair gave birth to a real story of rebellion: Miss Liberty took back the space for her imagination, her fantasies, there where Time, sitting on a chair, tick-tocks left and right as opposed to forward and backward. Like a child in a merry-go-round.
She, Freedom, fought her way out of the cage that locked her in and put a leash on the other one… Consuetude, they call it.
Habit, they call her. Now she’s in control of her life, sitting on her throne, while Habit can only look at her screaming: “Rules are made to be broken”.

Abnormal is a rocking chair made of iron and wheel rims of a cart.

Was it the ancient slavish nature of its materials that inspired my rebellious story?

Abnormal rocks left and right, it’s unusual and fun. Maybe it’s the ancient servile nature of its materials that inspired its rebellious swinging.

Its measures are about 120 x 120 cm.

Cala Martina

For the very first
For the very first time I managed to encase
a strong feelingsuch as love
as love in a piece of furniture.

This piece of furniture tells of a man, a woman and their story in a special place, where the sky and the sea swear each other eternal love.

People change, places change… promises of love become art.

Cala Martina is a three-pieced cabinet for living room

The composition started from the handles, that are 3 logs that were smoothed out by the sea and then collected on the Cala Martina shore.
Solid oak wood painted grey; internal glass shelves; the central element can be opened and it is tilting.
The 45° cut on all sides, makes it possible for the rear part to look clean and give the possibility to place the pieces even in the middle of a room.
