There are gestures, smells and shapes that in a few seconds have the ability to take us to a memory of another, distant life. Black Swan is a tallboy that reminds us of when we were children and we looked for dreams in drawers, not things.

Black swan is a tallboy made of solid elm wood, worked strictly by hand enhancing the wood’s natural veining.
As other Poems in Wood, it borrows its name from a famous ballet “The Swan Lake”, and the symbol of the black swan becomes a source of inspiration to describe “a one-time event, that doesn’t fall into the frame of regular expectations”, as Nassim Nicholas Taleb writes in his namesake essay.

So a bedroom tallboy, thanks to a particular feature of design, leads us to a gesture that is capable of unlocking a memory.
To understand which one, all we have to do is look into its drawers…

The rarest, unpredictable and unexpected event is thinking of becoming children again.

Cala Martina is a three-pieced cabinet for living room

The composition started from the handles, that are 3 logs that were smoothed out by the sea and then collected on the Cala Martina shore.
Solid oak wood painted grey; internal glass shelves; the central element can be opened and it is tilting.
The 45° cut on all sides, makes it possible for the rear part to look clean and give the possibility to place the pieces even in the middle of a room.

Casetta Santini is a restaurant in Tuscan maremma, but it’s not only a restaurant: it is a breeding farm, and much more. Casetta Santini is a paradise, a serene spot full of atmosphere.
The relaxed environment and the courtesy of its owners have nurtured my fantasy to design and build the spaces dedicated to welcoming in the winery and the shop, in collaboration with the interior designer Alessandro Pizzetti from Arredamentedesign.

The work focused on the refined use of raw materials: each surface, indeed, gets back to the wood that originally inhabited the place.

We imagined an environment that could enhance and give a modern look to the ancient elements that were there: thus, the wood from the troughs and the stable beams become tables and seats or deliver unusual geometric designs to the bar counter.

All of the elements converge in an space that smells of Maremma and good wine. An old window becomes a display cabinet for baroque glasses and oak barrels now host aperitifs and tastings, while the external counter “contains” crates of fine wines.

The result is a homogenous space that is never predictable, which gives that pleasant feeling of cosiness that you get at Casetta Santini.

From an old oak barrel came a series of 7 wall-mounted wine racks.
Each board becomes a painting and the verse of a love poem dedicated to passion and wine.

This work was born from a provocation. A provocation that came from a Social Network, reflection of our times.
Almost just for fun I read and deepened my knowledge on the myth of Eco and Narcissus, which inspired this large mirror, entirely made of solid, hand-smoothed wood.

The wood maintains its natural veining, refined only with oil, to protect its essence.

For centuries many artists have interpreted, transformed and imagined the story of Narcissus.
Despite the tragic ending and the negative connotativo that we normally apply to the concept of narcissism, in my opinion it represents searching for real love: a never-ending quest of never settling for what you have, a form of self-love that nobody should be ashamed of.

Once upon a time there was the city of Hamelin, in Germany. It was a really lovely city, but it had two major flaws…”

It is very often a word that makes the lightbulb go off, that becomes the spark for curiosity and imagination. This is what happened with Hamelin, a two-counter kitchen as I like to call it.

This time it was the word GRATITUDE to intrigue me, thus I dedicated this new work to a charming yet scary fairy tale by the Grimm brothers: The Pied Piper.

Each project thrills me and it becomes a new discovery, in this case a tale that I barely knew. So in the same way, I hope my creations raise an emotion, become a small invitation to discover, to get to know a bit more… including of ourselves, as if looking in the mirror.

The prestige of this piece of furniture is the manufacturing of the solid wood, that was so beautiful in its essence that my hardest intervention was exactly that of acknowledging its magnificence the way it was, naturally.

Its manufacturing was thus completely done by hand, while enhancing the natural texture of the wood, maintaining the traces of the sawmill and finishing with oil. The white marble from Carrara finely completes its elegant and beautiful yet simple look.

… …sometimes there is no harder action than the non-action.

With this wardrobe I wanted to create an extremely neat piece of furniture in its lines and colours, light, thanks to the use of glass, and most importantly spacious. The “open” part is dynamic and modular, thanks to a system of retractable clothes hangers.

It finds its place in a space that is ideal to put objects away and tidy up.
As for most of my works, it takes a mysterious phrase with it, that I dedicated to my family who will use this piece every day. I wonder if they have discovered which phrase it is…
